i would give this book a 10+ on stars if i could!!!!!! OMG this one of the best books i have read in a while. first you have zanita masterson who is fighting to be a top journalist in her grandfather's paper but he won't assign her to anything gritty like she wants. he is afraid of her getting hurt. she finally decides to debunk a charlatan (without her grandfather's knowledge) that took her elderly friend's money. she walks into the wrong seminar that tyber is conducting. she is looking for a psychic convention and walks into a physics convention instead. she decides tyber is the most incredible example of a man she has ever seen. he finds out what she is doing and, since he wants to know her better, volunteers to help her. she figures that since tyberius angustus evans is a genius in physics world he could probably help. he convinces her to move in with him so they could work together more closely and she does, warily. well, one thing leads to another and woo-hoo they are shaking the sheets. they do investigate the charlatan and tyber can debunk him and a lot of what he is doing, but no one has been able to prove anything on him.
i usually delete books from my account after i finish with them. not this one. i can see me reading this one over and over again!!!!!

High Energy Dara Joy 9780843944389 Books Reviews

Laughter and jealous thoughts are what is running thru my head as I think of this book. You can't wait to find out what happens next as this couple works their way thru the day. I want to be her and I want a man like him!
Tyber is a genius, but, unlike most physicists I know, also has a high level of interpersonal skills! Very high. He's gorgeous, also. And rich. And funny. He's takes a liking to a clueless but gorgeous woman who wanders into his class by accident looking for a psychic's class. (She can't spell).

In fact Tyber is a great character, and the relationship between these two protagonists is fun. They quickly fall into the dynamics of being a couple together, though Zanita doesn't want to commit. And their relationship as a couple, together with a mystery to solve, is what this book is about more than their romance or getting to know each other.

This isn't my favorite book by Dara Joy. But I give it a B-. Tyber certainly goes down as one of the good characters she's created. Alongside Traede, from Rejar, and Gian Ren. I guess I didn't like Zanita as much. She comes across as a madcap - in the Lois Lane mold, someone who has to be rescued from her own adventures.

There is a little bit of physics in the book. It is woven in sort of the way Karen Marie Moning wove physics into her romance titled Kiss of the Highlander. So the two elements - someone who is both brilliant and personable, coupled with a sprinkling of physics, made this book interesting to me!
Hey! I'm reading these reviews and can't believe that anyone wouldn't get a kick out of this book. I laughed my head off. I guess there's no accounting for some peoples (lack of) sense of humor. What's not funny about a burned out mathematician who thinks he's on a pirate ship and cooks for the Captain. How about every time this gorgeous physics professor goes to make love to his sweetheart he tries to convince her it's an experiment or lesson in physics. The banter between Tyber and Zanita is hilarious most of the time. Fortunately most of the reviews are pretty good but don't get me started about the reviews on "HIGH INTENSITY" the sequel. "High Energy" is the first full length novel of Dara Joy's that I have read.(aside from "MY One" loved it too) I was having a hard time deciding whether to buy "High Intensity" or not because of the reviews.(They were pretty bad actually.) I decided to heck with the reviews I loved the first book and it's up to me to decide if I want to get it or not. I just bought it. I'll let you know what I think. I always try to keep an open mind about things.
I quit reading as the female lead Zanita is full of drama.

“Well, what did you expect?”
Mills raised an eyebrow. “Lucidity? Rationality? Perhaps a modicum of believability?”

Mills nodded to emphasize Zanita's admission. “And wasn't it you who's been dating Rick for three months, telling the poor guy, who happens to be crazy about you, that you want nothing more from him than a platonic friendship?”

Zanita drummed her fingers on the tabletop. “So what's your point?”

Mills zoomed in. “What made you suddenly sleep with the guy?” she bellowed. “And it's a little hard for me to believe a man like Rick would be 'blah' in bed.”

Zanita hiked her shoulders. “I don't know why. Maybe I was curious.”

I doubt I will finish or be interested in following this author.
Remember this is my personal opinion and does not reflect on the author.
Tyber he's a interesting character, "it is you who has piqued my interest, Zanita. Did I tell you I have a cat? No? Well, I do. Good night." Total weirdo if you ask me, well a total hot weirdo haha. At the same time he has this alpha image going for him, "I believe I am about to claim you, Ms. Masterson." He's also quite a smarta**, "well, let me think...I could say it's intuition or even my great psychic ability, but perhaps it was all the yelling - 'Oh my God what's happening please don't stop you're killing me.' Yes, I definitely think -" He's possessive, "I don't know if I want you going up there. Who knows what he might do? I don't want him putting his hands on you." He's also one to turn a serious situation into a funny one, "Tyber rubbed his ear. "Does that mean, don't be ridiculous you do like my looking at you, or don't be ridiculous you don't like me looking at you?" He also learns that he has to set his fragile woman straight every once in awhile, "of course not." He brushed her lips with his several times. "Why would I give anyone else my - what did you call it? My come-hither smile? - When you're the only one I want to come hither? Or is it thither?" I really liked this book and I'm glad my friend recommended it to me.
