Starfisher says; a great companion to any and all EQ pre-1996, and with so much stuff you'll be curled up in your den(pun intended) for hours.
Or really, anybody interested in fantasy storytelling. The Gatherum really doesn't have anything really to do with the RPG -- I don't remember a thing in it that'd really help an EQ gamer out. It's really just a bunch of background material -- and by "bunch", I mean hundreds of pages of photos, interviews, drawings, background, source material, and reference stuff. This isn't so much a guidebook to Elfquest as an illumination of how it came to be. Some of the essays are written by the Pinis, and others are by admirers and friends.
EQ readers will probably appreciate the essay about how Recognition works, but there's lots more there to love.
The Big ElfQuest Gatherum certainly delivers what it says on the package - a miscellaneous collection of all things ElfQuest - and for this reason it will be a valuable read for fans of the series. The highlights of this text are Wendy's explanations of some of the ideology behind her work and her discussion of women in comics and women writing comics. The weakness of the text comes from a too-literal transcription of some of the interviews. They include lots of asides and tangents that make for slow reading. In summary an interesting work for established fans, but probably not where you want to start if you're just entering the World of the Two Moons.
I got this as a gift for my lady-friend who is a huge ElfQuest fan, and she absolutely loved it! However in the process I was looking over her shoulder as she was going through it, so I do feel qualified to go ahead and write a review.

First off, this has nothing to do with the ElfQuest RPG, and is instead based upon the comics/graphic novels of the series. More specifically this is a book dedicated to the development and behind the scenes look as the other reviewers have indicated. Again it includes interviews, development of the artwork, character development, and even how some of the ideas have changed since it's inception. Essentially it's the "extras" one would get on a DVD to make the analogy, but for the dedicated ElfQuest fan or serious collector, it really is a must have. As per the description, the book is quite large and beautifully put together. While already a collectable, this book is certain to gain status and value in the years to come.

I love my book. It is full of interviews with the authors, characters and more. You get a more in depth view of the comic series.
Unfortunately, my copy was missing six pages which were replaced with copies of the previous six pages as a printing mistake. I'm not sure if this is a common thing or not
